01/27/2017 - UPDATE -
Hi, it’s me Sammie. I am loving living in my foster home with my Foster Mom and my four furball friends. I love sleeping in the bed all curled up with them at night. We keep each other warm and safe. I am a very happy, healthy boy. I play hard, but I am also super chill once we come into the house. My Foster Mom gives me lots of hugs and kisses and tells me what a great boy I am. She is so happy that I am housetrained. I have a great appetite and love treats. But I have no food or treat aggression. We all share our food and treats. I am a true gentleman in that regard. I am very obedient and know several commands, and she has taught me some tricks. I love to go for walks in the neighborhood. I get along well with all the other dogs and people we meet while we are out on our walks. I love to ride in the car. I always sit in the front seat with my Foster Mom and love to look out the window and see all the sites. I really like men. My owner who passed was a man and I really miss him. But I do love the ladies too. My Foster Mom always tells me I am very handsome. It is very rare that I growl, I only do it when I’m excited now…it is not a mean, scary growl. It’s just the way I talk. Well that’s all for now. We are getting ready to go for a good long walk. Love, Sammie

Hello, my name is Sammie. I just arrived at the CSAC from a shelter. My owner passed away and his family did not know what to do with me. I love other dogs. I got to live with 3 at my last house, and we had so much fun playing & snuggling! My true passion is being the best lap dog ever; but I do enjoy walks so much – so many interesting smells & sights! I like to cuddle, especially if there are scary noises like fireworks. At night, I would prefer to sleep in bed with you. And, don’t even think about putting me in one of those crates. They are for dogs who are not as responsible as me, and I'll just cry until you get me out. At 8 year’s old, I have learned my manners. I am house-broken, and can be trusted to roam free, unlike some other dogs I know. I try to keep healthy, and both my families took very good care of my medical needs. Sometimes strangers can be scary & annoying. I will give a little warning growl, and if they still try to touch my face, I might just snap. I am highly intelligent, having mastered commands such as sit, stay, and down. Can someone give me a new home and love me like my first owner.

The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. If you can help, please donate.
