10/30/2017 - UPDATE -
Hi to my friends and friends-to-be. I am Wela, and am here at my wonderful foster home with my foster mom and Cocker sibling. Mom wants us to get along like sisters, but we are not there yet. We did bond a few days ago over a box of dog biscuits we got into when Mom was away. We knew we shouldn't do it, but just couldn't help ourselves. We cooperated for some misadventure, for sure! Mom says to say that I am getting around well even though I cannot see. I have a fenced-in yard here which I have learned, and I don't bump into anything. I love to be out in the yard and feel the sun on my healthy self. I am learning leash habits, and that is going well. During the night, I sleep all night in my comfy and cozy crate. For a girl who was a homeless and unhealthy pup in the big city of Philadelphia, I now have a new and safe life. I love it. Mom says I just love to be loved. I would stay on her lap all day if I could. Mom says that one day a new family will come to meet me, and I will become their cherished girl. Please ask the super CSAC people to meet Miss Wela. I am thankful every day for my second chance. Kisses and hugs to everyone. Love - Wela

MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION:
Hi Everyone! My name is Wela, and I just arrived at CSAC from a shelter. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. I was found roaming the streets of Philadelphia, but I did have a microchip. When my people were called, they did not want to come and pick me up. It is a miracle that I survived. I am blind from cataracts. I have been neglected for awhile because I am very underweight. As you can see in my photos, I am very loving. I need a home with great people who will feed and take care of me. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will turn me into a happy, cherished pet.

Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link.

The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. If you can help, please donate.
