05/23/2019 - UPDATE -
Hi everyone. It's Baby here. I am writing to you from my wonderful new foster home. I have the best foster mom and dad. I also live with two cats. Mom says I likely will be better in a home with no cats. We haven't had any problems, but Mom and Dad do a good job of keeping us separated. That always works. Anyway, I am having lots of fun even though I have some pain. I am 12 years old even though I do not act it at all. But, when you get up in years, the aches and pains just come with it. I take a couple pills which Mom hides in food and I jump up to catch them. I am a great catch. I don't hear things, but the good part is that I have no ear pain at all. Considering everything, I am in really good shape for an older gal. I do have some separation anxiety which my parents are working on. I sometimes will have accidents when my people leave the room, but we are following suggestions from my vet and I know I will get much better. I have just started to show my parents when I need to go out by going over to them and jumping up. My way of saying, "Take me out now!" And really, I just getting used to my great new life with them. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to go outside. I jump up in the air when I see the leash, See, I do act young. Mom says I have tons of energy for a 12-year-old pup. One thing I do when I am out is try to go after dogs that are bigger than I am. I guess I think I am a lot larger than a Cocker, but since I am always on a leash it is not a problem. Just something my new family would need to know. Now smaller dogs I don't even notice. Go figure! There are many other things I enjoy. One odd thing is I like lying on newspapers, the advertisement section, you know the shiny stuff. I LOVE being on my parents lap and get petted and loved. Mom says I am absolutely the sweetest and most affectionate pup ever. She said I am a real love. I also love kids. If you are looking for an older gal who doesn't act her age, I may be the perfect fit. I need a patient family with no cats and a smaller dog that I get along well with. I have charm, and love and affection to share with my family. I promise I will LOVE them as much as they love their Baby. Thanks for reading my long letter. Hugs and kisses - Your Baby

MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION:
Hi. My name is Baby, and I just arrived at CSAC from a shelter. My former owner has declining health and could no longer care for me. I did not do well losing my only home, and the stress made me very ill. I am beginning to adjust to my new life. I am house trained and crate trained. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. I have a few masses that need removed. I have arthritis in my back legs so I need a quiet place, pain medication and supplements. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will provide me the love and care I need. Can you help?

Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link.

The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. If you can help, please donate.
