08/19/2019 - UPDATE -
It’s Blackie here. My family didn’t want me. They said I was an escape artist and wouldn’t take me back when I got lost. I didn’t try to escape. You see, I am an older boy and I am blind and deaf. I just walked away and then couldn’t find my way home. I need a new family who will love me and take care of me. I am with a foster family now and they are helping me to learn my way around the house and yard. My foster parents tell me I am a good boy and touch me to encourage me. I am responding well. I am wagging my tail a lot more often. I still can’t find my way completely around the house, but I am trying. I get along well with the other dogs who live here, and I like little kids. Now, I certainly can find my way to the kitchen when meals are served or treats are given. I do show the traits of a mature dog. I walk a bit slower, take a bit longer to eat than the others and would rather spend the day sleeping than playing with toys. But I am a sweet loving boy who likes to cuddle. And I like to give sweet kisses on my Foster Mom’s nose in the morning. Please take me home and be my family for the rest of my life.

MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION:
Hi Everyone! My name is Blackie, and I just arrived at CSAC from a shelter. I have quite a history with the shelter. I was found stray in 2015 and returned to my owner. I was surrendered to the shelter in 2017 by that owner because I was too old and kept escaping the yard. I was adopted to a new family, but I was just found stray again and the new family did not reclaim me so now I am with the CSAC looking for a new home. Even though I am 19, blind, and deaf, I certainly do not let my disabilities fence me in so my new home should probably have one. I like to roam! Hopefully, I will find my new family that will turn me into a happy, cherished pet.

The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. If you can help, please donate.
